Nat Jefferson
I am a self taught artist from Pennsylvania with southern roots. My mother is a painter and passed on the love of art to me at a young age. Art has always been a part of my life, from grade school to college in North Carolina. I became passionate about acrylic painting when I moved to New Mexico in 2006 where the colors were different than I had ever seen, from the vast skies and epic sunsets to the local art itself. I fell in love with the Dia de los Muertos art and history which is the inspired style of a majority of my characters. However, I find inspiration everywhere, from urban street art and magazine photos to dead leaves I see on the walk to work. I try to plan as little as possible. I like contrast of bright colors with darkness and outlines that intensify. My backgrounds are often chaotic layers meshed with bold bright colors. Thank you for viewing my work; I hope you enjoy them.
Peace.
